Title: Barefoot Mailmen, Theodore Pratt, and Florida Literature

Speaker: Dr. Taylor Hagood, Professor of English

Summary: Professor Taylor Hagood tells the story of the barefoot mailmen through the life and writing of “Florida’s Literary Laureate” Theodore Pratt, who wrote the 1943 novel, The Barefoot Mailman.  The lecture will capture both the time of the barefoot mailmen in the late 1800’s as well as south Florida’s nostalgic mid-century period when Pratt was writing.
